Give me your hand
And I’ll give you a gift.
A slight little gesture,
‘Cause I know that you’re miffed.
Just open your heart,
And your little hand too.
Please give me a chance
To make it all up to you.
I know I was wrong
In all that I said.
I can’t help but wonder…
What got into my head?
Please accept my “I’m sorry”
And come close once again.
‘Cause it hurts so without you–
You’re my love and my friend!
We’ve all had times when it’s been “open mouth, insert foot.” The question is, are you going to REMAIN with foot-in-mouth, or yank it out with a meaningful and sincere apology? This poem written on a card with a little gift might help. Feel free to use it, all I ask is that you put this on the back of your card: Copyright 2010 Gloria Jean Dewitt (http://gloryjean.wordpress.com)
BTW, if you’re a girl giving it to a guy, then just change the word “little” in the second verse to either “blessed,” “precious,” or “manly.”
